Our first taste of midweek action in the 2026/27 season comes from the Lawtech Stadium, as Shane Baptiste's side look to continue their winning start to the campaign as we take on Romford.

Both sides come into this having won both of their fixtures so far, with The Woods demolishing Saffron Walden Town 6-0 on the opening day, before following it up with a hard-fought win at Biggleswade United in the Emirates FA Cup. Romford, meanwhile, left it late to beat Basildon United on match day one, before dispatching Barton Rovers 2-1 on home soil in the FA Cup.

Last season, when the two sides met in this fixture, we came from behind to produce a thrilling second-half comeback and win 4-2. Trailing with a quarter of an hour remaining, Marko Protic came off the bench and instantly provided the cutting-edge we needed going forward. Less than 60 seconds after his arrival onto the pitch, he set up Ollie Sotoyinbo for our equaliser, before winning the game in the 90th-minute. Denzel Effah sealed the points deep into stoppage time with a sumptuous free-kick.
