Woodford Town started the tie on the front foot, dominating the majority of the first-half and forcing Hadleigh goalkeeper Chris Warren into a number of good stops inside the opening 45 minutes.
With no way through, it appeared both sides would be heading into the interval with the scores tied, however with just three minutes of action remaining, Dion Johnston was brought down, gifting Chaynie Burgin a golden opportunity to put us a goal ahead on the brink of half time. The debutant stepped up, but saw his spot kick saved by Warren, meaning the scoreline remain deadlocked.
In the second-half, the story was very much the same, with Shane Baptiste's men largely on top yet unable to find a way through the rigid defensive set-up from the hosts. With clear-cut chances squandered, and no goals to separate the two sides, the lottery of a penalty shootout would determine the outcome.
Two misses from the visitors meant that the Suffolk side, who didn't miss a single kick from twelve-yards, progressed to the next round.
The loss means that for the first time since our reformation in 2017, we have been eliminated from the FA Vase prior to the Second Qualifying Round Stage.
