MATCH REPORT | Barking 3-1 Woodford Town

Harrison Nathan

It was a third consecutive defeat for The Woods on Tuesday night.

Jamie and Tucker O'Donoghue's reign as Joint-Interim Manager began with a defeat on the road at the Lawtech Stadium on Tuesday night, however, there was reason for positivity following a much-improved display, despite losing on the night.

The Woods started the clash on the front foot and came close to breaking the deadlock on numerous occasions early on, with the ball just not quite falling in the right areas in the final third. Despite the early dominance, it was the hosts who eventually took the lead with 35 minutes on the clock, as Ryan Pickles latched onto a mistake from Williams Danquah before slotting past the onrushing Sidi Haidara, who was recalled to the starting XI after a period out of it.

At the interval, Woodford regrouped and it was us who once again started the half the livelier of the two sides. Normand Kebi saw an arrowing effort come just inches away from finding the top corner, and just four minutes later, we were punished, albeit harshly. Pickles added his second of the night, smashing a low free-kick into the bottom corner after being given the chance to retake it after the referee saw a foul on a Woods defender penalty area.

Michael Dixon sealed the points for The Blues with three minutes remaining, before Ollie Sotoyinbo continued his brilliant scoring run in October to pull a consolation goal back for The Woods in added time.

Starting XI: Haidara (GK); Kirwan-Meade, Agboola, Danquah; Sergio, Owusu, Kebi, Martins; Ahmed; Sotoyinbo, Oji.

Unused substitutes: Lawal, Tea
