MATCH REPORT | Romford 2-4 Woodford Town

Rob Gammons secured his first Essex Senior League win as Woodford Town First Team Manager, and in some style too, as three goals inside the final quarter of an hour of play saw us complete a magical turnaround on the road, and return to Ashton's with all three points!

A good start to the game saw chances fall to Ryan Hervel and Yemi Adelani, however, we failed to capitalise and almost paid the price, with goalkeeper Jake Boxer forced into making a stunning save from close-range to keep us on level terms. Despite that, it was Adelani who provided the magical moment, staying calm and collected after he was slipped through by Kye Scott, beating two before slotting into the bottom corner to give us the lead!

Despite looking comfortable in the first half, a moment of brilliance from Flynn Hamilton saw the hosts claw themselves back into the game, with an incredible finish from thirty yards out. And to couple that, they took the lead with 72 minutes on the clock.

Although we fell behind, we still looked as though we would find a way back into the game, and when Marko Protic - less than five minutes after coming off the bench - played Ollie Sotoyinbo through on goal, there was only one outcome, with our number nine notching his twentieth goal of the campaign!

The goals came in a flurry after that. A 90th-minute Marko Protic looked to have won us the game, before Denzel Effah secured all three points with a beautiful free-kick deep into stoppage time, as he scored his first goal in the yellow and blue!
