Despite getting off to a flyer at Ashton's Stadium, our Emirates FA Cup run came to an end at the Second Qualifying Round stage, at the hands of Isthmian League North Division side Mulbarton Wanderers.

The Woods began the tie on the front foot, and Ollie Sotoyinbo thought he had put the hosts in front when he dispatched from twelve yards. However, controversially, the man in the middle opted to award a free-kick to Mulbarton, deeming a Woodford player to have encroached on the area and interfered with the goalkeeper. Despite that, Shane Baptiste's side carried on pushing, and eventually, just three minutes before the interval, Sotoyinbo was wheeling away in delight. Jibran Ahmed beat his man and delivered a low cross towards the front post, where our number nine was waiting to prod home to break the deadlock!

After the break, however, it was a different story. The visitors came out fired up, and on the halfway point of the second half, an Owen Lane free-kick squirmed under Ashlee Jones and into the back of the net for the equaliser. Mulbarton used their leveller as a means to flip the momentum, and for the final 20 minutes or so, Woodford required the utmost concentration defensively to see out a draw and take the tie to a replay in Norwich on Tuesday night.

Deep into stoppage time, it looked as though another 90 minutes would be on the horizon for both sides, however, some intricate play allowed Wanderers to break the offside trap, with Nathan Stone finishing off the move in the 97th-minute, sparking delirium for Mulbarton, and heartbreak for The Woods.
