Shane Baptiste’s side will look back on their pre-season with overall positivity, having won 4, lost 1 and drawn their final game at home to Fisher.
The Woods couldn’t have asked for a better start on Saturday afternoon, with Trialist A pouncing on an error at the back to slam home a brilliant volley from 20 yards out. However, that start was short-lived, as less than two minutes later, a mix-up at the back allowed the visitors to pull level.
We continued to assert our dominance in the game, but were subdued in our attempts, with Fisher pressing us high and forcing errors. With the hydration break making its way to Step Five football, it allowed us an opportunity to reset and regroup, and we did exactly that, with Jibran Ahmed firing a rocket into the roof of the net with 33 minutes on the clock.
Finally gaining a foothold in the affair, we continued to dominate for the majority of the time remaining, but with around ten minutes to spare, Fisher once again pegged us back. It looked as though it would end two-a-piece in our final pre-season clash, until Marko Protic raced through on goal in added time - his effort was spectacularly saved, though, meaning a 2-2 draw was how it finished up.
There will be plenty of positivity for Shane Baptiste to carry into our season-opener away at Saffron Walden Town next Saturday, as we gear up for another enthralling campaign
