MATCH REPORT | Woodford Town 2-3 Hutton

Harrison Nathan

It was a night to forget for The Woods under the lights on Friday.

Shane Baptiste's side suffered a shock defeat under the Friday night lights against Hutton, with the visitors taking a three-goal lead before The Woods added two consolation goals late on.

Luca Savill fired the visitors in front with just 16 minutes on the clock, before firepower on the bench saw Hutton pull away. Chukwuka Eseka scored in the 69th minute, and that was was greeted gleefully by a Kevin Musimani strike eleven minutes from the end of the ninety. Jibran Ahmed got Woodford Town on the scoresheet before a stoppage time strike from Mo Lawal halved the deficit further, although it was to be too little too late as The Woods succumbed to defeat.

Speaking after the affair, First Team Coach Tucker O'Donoghue, who led the team on Friday night, told us that the next fixture for The Woods, which sees us welcome Hullbridge Sports next Friday (16th October) would be a test of our character as we look to bounce back.

"We weren't at our best and the two late goals flattered us. It was the only light on a disappointing night.

"One bad game doesn't make us a bad team. It's a test of our character now to bounce back."

Starting XI: Jones (GK); Owusu (C), Agboola, Hastings, Martins; Danquah, Kebi, Protic; Ayvaz, Sotoyinbo, Ahmed.

Substitutes: Kirwan-Meade, Lawal, Sergio, Anderson, Onwumere.
