Things couldn't have got off to a worse start for Woodford Town, as they fell behind inside the first ten seconds. Daniel Izekor raced through after a misplaced pass, and he slid the ball across the goal and past Manny Agboola, with his shot nestling into the bottom corner.
The Woods looked to form a rapid response, with Yemi Adelani having a volley saved just two minutes later, before Miles Mitchell-Nelson was just inches away from equalising, sliding to reach a Malaki Toussaint cross which narrowly evaded him. The hosts grew into the game as the half progressed, with Adelani having another chance that went over from the angle, and Ollie Sotoyinbo saw a long-range effort go wide.
However, at the start of the second half, it was the visitors who came flying out of the traps once again. Greg Akpele spotted Agboola off his line and took his chance, with the ball bouncing into the bottom corner to double The Foxes' lead.
Again, this didn't deter The Woods from kickstarting an attempted comeback. Toussaint's corner cannoned off the crossbar before Adelani, who was making his second debut in yellow and blue, came close again with a shot which was blocked. It just felt like one of those days, especially for Adelani, as his header in the 80th minute was ruled out for offside, but there was one opening as the clock ticked away.
The man in the middle pointed to the penalty spot, citing a shirt pull as the offence, with Sotoyinbo stepping up to calmly slot home and halve the deficit. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough, as The Woods suffered a second defeat in a row.
