On a rainy evening in Coggeshall, second-half goals from the hosts see us throw away a two-goal lead at West Street, before we were defeated on penalties.

Woodford Town got off to a perfect start, with Marko Protic opening the scoring shortly before the fifteen minute mark, rewarding the visitors for their early dominance.

The striker slotted a penalty into the bottom corner, after Marcus Painter was fouled by the goalkeeper after running through on goal.

Bang on the half-hour mark, Protic doubled both his tally on the night, and the lead. Dion Johnston had been causing chaos down the right wing, and he teed it up for Painter, who whipped in a sumptuous delivery, with our number nine on hand to head home from inside the six-yard box.

The first Woods substitution arrived in the 56th minute, with Normand Kebi - making his return to action - being replaced by Sam Sollosi. However, less than 180-seconds later, the hosts pulled themselves back into the tie, 1-2.

More chances arrived for Woodford in the remainder of the game, most notably a terrific double save to deny Protic and a close-range stop to keep out Miles Mitchell-Nelson’s header from a top quality Joshua Banfield corner.

Despite the pressure, the hosts fought through and with two minutes of the ninety to spare, grabbed an equaliser, sending the cup tie to a penalty shootout.

In the shootout, the Seed Growers stepped up first and scored, and scored all four of their of their spot kicks, inspiring them to victory, after misses from Banfield and David Gokou.
