THE SIT DOWN #1: Catching up with Dimi Christou ahead of today's Emirates FA Cup tie

Harrison Nathan13 Sep - 09:35

We spoke with the midfielder ahead of today's Emirates FA Cup clash with Bury Town.

Dimi has been an instrumental figure in the Club's historic FA Cup run, scoring four times in the competition. Ahead of another outing in the world's oldest domestic football cup competition, we quizzed him on that, as well as some other topics centring around the tie, in. our first edition of The Sit Down.

You’ve scored four goals so far in the competition, all four coming off the bench too. What is it that ignites you to keep providing for us in those situations in the FA Cup?

"I think once you get one goal, it’s enough to give you that hunger for more," he said.

"I’ve been fortunate that those chances have dropped to me in the right situations, at the right time, and I’ve been able to deliver. I guess it’s just about trying to do the right things in the game, whether that’s off the bench or starting, and if I can do that, hopefully I can produce another couple of good moments."

This is the furthest stage you’ve reached in the competition. How does it feel?

"Yeah, it’s a great feeling. I’ve always felt like we’ve had the ability to go far in the FA Cup, but never maximised our opportunities. This year has been different, and I think we’re all just enjoying each occasion and not thinking about it too much."

What’s it been like within the squad, preparing for Saturday’s game?

"Off the back of the result last week, I think we all know we need a reaction, and that’s the main focus. If we get a reaction from the group, I have no doubt we’ll put up a strong test for Bury. The boys are positive."

A message for the fans ahead of Saturday’s clash with Bury Town?

"To those who are travelling, thank you for coming up once again to watch us. Hopefully, we can give you another memorable day."
