THE SIT DOWN #7 | Kahlil Kirwan-Meade talks all things Woodford Town

Harrison Nathan7 Nov - 20:04

We caught up with the defender for our latest interview.

Kahlil Kirwan-Meade joined us for the latest edition of The Sit Down, where we discussed all things Woodford Town - from our current form in the Essex Senior League, to the impact our incredible fans make week in, week out.

Racking up over 100 appearances in the yellow and blue shirt, our number two has been a mainstay at The Woods for three years now, barring a swift spell away during the 2024/25 season, before he returned for the end of the campaign. Being one of the longest-serving players in the squad, Kahlil really knows the difference our fans can make whilst out on the pitch.

Our supporters are arguably the best in the business, having them support you through, not just the good, but also the bad times, must be such a bonus.

“Absolutely! They really do push us in our good and bad moments. The boys really do appreciate their support, and when you hear the drum and the songs going, it’s like having an extra player on the pitch.”

We’ve started to pick up some form again, winning two in a row. What is the focus now in the camp, seeing as it finally seems we have put the bad run behind us?

The Woods have beaten Ilford 4-1 in the Peter Butcher Memorial Trophy, before following it up with a 3-0 win over Harwich and Parkeston in the Essex Senior League, a result which saw us move up to second in the table and three points off SOUL Tower Hamlets, who occupy top spot.

Two victories to end October and begin November is the perfect bounce-back for Woodford, whp struggled at large in October, as we played out an incredibly busy schedule.

“The focus, for sure, is consistency. The best team will be the most consistent team, so if we want to achieve our aims by the end of the season, that’s the most important thing. There is plenty of football left, and to be three points off the top of the league after a ‘bad run’ is far from the worst thing.”

It’s clear what the Club's expectations are for the season, but what exactly do we need to do to achieve them?

“It comes back to that word - consistency. We have to be consistent in everything we do. Our attitude, our level of performance and results. It’s also important not to look too far ahead of ourselves or worry about expectations and the end of the season. We just have to take it one game at a time.”
