We arrived in E17 at Wadham Lodge Stadium ahead of the evening’s Errington Challenge Cup Quarter Final tie vs West Essex and on the back of 12 Wins in a row; It's unlucky for some but could The Woods make it 13?
After a warm up in the pouring rain the game was underway and the first real action came on 13 minutes when Okoh was released down the left, taking on his man before cutting inside and unleashing a strike which cannoned off the post.
It was on 20 minutes when the breakthrough came. Angelov dinked a ball over the top to Christou, he chested it down for Protic who managed to squirm an effort into the bottom corner to make it 1-0. Shortly after at the other end we saw some great defending from Empochontsif to keep us ahead when he cleared the ball off the line. A couple of injuries in the first half forced some early substitutions which saw Angelov and Christou replaced by Steele and Bolovan. Despite the changes, we kept pushing and managed to get a second when Okoh latched onto a through ball in the 65th minute and slotted the ball under the keeper to double our lead! One foot in the Semi-Final..
It was on the 76th minute that the game was all but done and dusted when a low cross was put across the six-yard box and Okoh was there again, sliding to prod it over the keeper for his brace to make it 0-3 which is how it finished to put us into the semi final!
“Ernest’s on fire,” sang the travelling Woods fans!
